The team at Creative Wedding Co love afternoon tea. We especially love those served with champagne! We were therefore delighted to find Mrs Jones Tea & China Hire a service that helps brides and grooms to be create thier very own wedding tea party.
Mrs Jones Tea & China Hire was launched in 2015 by Gemma Jones, after she became hooked on deliciously original afternoon teas. Known as Mrs. Jones by marriage, Gems to most and Mummy to two darling girls, Gemma lives in Weybridge, Surrey and celebrated her hen do and baby showers with Afternoon teas served on beautiful and unique vintage china. Over the years she’s become increasingly infatuated with all things tea-related, culminating in the birth of Mrs. Jones Tea and China Hire.
Gemma got her first wedding booking in July 2015 in Surrey at Weybridge Hall, a vintage afternoon tea for 65 people including Pimms and popcorn in the garden of the church. Here’s what she said about it:
“The bride had come over a few days before to pick out her favourite vintage tea cup trios for the bride and groom settings, as you can imagine she was very excited! With these picked out, I could then pick out the 63 other trios along with the cake stands and teapots – my favourite job! The day of the wedding myself and the team headed over to the hall at 8am, the morning of the wedding to set up, ideally we would like access the night before but in this case it wasn’t possible hence the early start! We started to arrange the hall to the bride and groom specifications and lay all the wedding china out along with the sweet table and vintage suitcases that were used for a table plan and a place for the wedding gifts and cards. We took delivery of the marquee letters, chairs and alcohol. We also worked very closely with the florist on the day to set the tables and hall to make the best of the space.
Once the hall was set and ready, next job was to head to the church garden to set up the Pimms and popcorn table ready for the bride and groom to come out the church. We used jam jars and beautiful floral paper straws for the Pimms & pink lemonade and the bride had brown vintage bags made up for the popcorn which we placed into wooden crates. The weather was as wished – sunny!
My team directed the wedding guests to the hall while the bride and groom left for photographs, we had trays of bubbly waiting at the hall to welcome everyone in.
The bride and groom arrived shortly after and as everyone took their seats myself and my team started to bring out the vintage cake stands stacked with the delicious wedding tea. We made sure that we kept topping up the stands with sandwiches, quiche and treats as well as ensuring that everyone’s teacups were full (as well as the champagne glasses!) and I think its safe to say everyone was stuffed!
As the venue was a village hall we were asked by the bride if we could clear away the tea and move the tables to the side of the hall ready for the evening which of course we were more then happy to do. Once the hall was cleared and the band started, myself and the team started the washing up. Our job was done!
There is such a job satisfaction when catering a wedding, just to be asked to be part of such an important day is an honour, and when we get glowing reviews from the bridal party or guests it makes all the hard work worth it!
Mrs. Jones xx”
