Kristina’s Wedding Make-Up Revealed!

Wedding Make-up

Wedding make-up is a big consideration for any bride to be. There is the choice of whether to go it alone or whether to enlist in a make-up artist or DIY. As I am not the best at applying make-up I choose the latter and enlisted Amanda Humphrey’s and she was fab! I had a practice run with Amanda. We did this on the morning of the engagement photo shoot so that I could look great in the pictures and also see what the make-up looked like in the pictures.

I asked Amanda to give me a natural look, with a little bit of smokey eyes to fit in with the grey theme of the wedding.

So here’s what Amanda said about the products she used:

Skin base:

I prepped Kristina’s skin with Smashbox Photo Finish Primer. This is the perfect primer for someone like Kristina with slightly oily skin, it helps mattify the skin and gives a velvety smooth base on which to apply foundation.

Kristina was looking for a natural classic bridal look and did not want a caky heavy foundation. I used Chanel Perfection Lumiere which is long lasting and gives a good natural coverage. This is my “go-to” bridal foundation as it is creamy and super blendable. It photographs well with no flashback and smells lovely!

I used a little Daniel Sandler watercolour blush in “cherub” on the apples of Kristina’s cheeks. The colour compliments her pale skin and gives a natural radiance, it also has serious staying power!

It’s all about the eyes! Kristina has beautiful eyes and I wanted to emphasise that. I prepped the lids with a MAC paintpot in the shade painterly, another must for those with oily lids as it ensures the shadow stays put all day. To add definition to the eyes I used a selection of MAC shadows, scene, as a transition shade just above the socket, brun in the outer corner and into the crease and french clay on the lid. I lined the upper lashes and slightly along the lower lash line with Bobbi Brown Long Wear Gel Liner in black which is long lasting and (most importantly) waterproof! Finally I smoked out the liner with dance in the dark MAC shadow using a smudger brush on both upper and lower lashlines.

Waterproof mascara is a must for brides, so I used Diego Dalla Palma Mascara, this is actually classed as a semi-permanent product so has excellent staying power on even the most teary client.

Kristina chose to wear Eyelure Pro-lash individual lash flares to emphasis her lashes. I always recommend brides at least try these out before the wedding. Ive never had a bride not want to wear them! Easy to wear and not heavy on the lid, they give emphasis to the lash line and really open up the eye. They’re a great alternative to a strip lash which could potentially come loose during a long wedding day.

We kept Kristina’s brows very natural but defined them with a little MAC eyeshadow in mystery applied with an angled brush. A strong eyebrow is very much in fashion at the moment, but I would recommend a timeless natural brow for a more classic bridal look.

Not one for bright statement lips Kristina chose a natural pinky brown matt lipstick by Inglot in shade 218. I love these highly pigmented lipsticks they stay put for hours and all a bride needs to revamp them after the wedding breakfast is a little lipgloss. We used a Bourjois 3D effect lipgloss in rose acidule to add gloss and volume.

To finish the look and set the makeup I dusted Chanel Poudre Univesalle over the whole face avoiding the cheeks and lips.

I loved my make-up on my wedding day and I would definitely recommend Amanda, she was great! The eyelashes Amanda used stayed in place all day, and were even ok the next day too! I’d previously tried a different product that was suppose to last a whole week, but they looked a bit spidery after a couple of days. the Eylure Pro-lash were so much better, and I forgot I was wearing them as they were comfortable and light.

I loved the products so much that I bought them to use on my honeymoon and I haven’t looked back!
