2. Print Your Invite
To get some top advice on printing those gorgeous invites we spoke to Lizzie, of Connie and Joan She gave us her top tips for printing your invites. Here’s what Lizzie had to say:
“ There are different types of DIY wedding stationery available. Some sellers provide PDF templates. Personally I prefer to offer Word documents. Word documents offer far more flexibility with the images and fonts. Word allows you to; change colours, move and resize images shapes, and text.
With PDF’s there are far less options, you can only use the fixed fields and type a line of text, but that is about it!
When you’re done editing your Word document files, save them as a PDF to preserve the document. PDF documents give you more printing options. All commercial printers prefer PDF files to print from. It’s very easy to save your Word doc as a PDF – you just go to ‘File’, ‘Save As’ and choose ‘PDF’ from the options under format/type.
Of course, you would only save it as a PDF after you’ve finished editing. If you find you need to make further changes later on, you’ll need to do that on the Word document, and then save as PDF again.
Once you’ve saved the file as a PDF, you are ready to upload them to a printing website, such as printed.com or vista print.com or email them to your local printers. However, you might find using a local printer a better option as you can discuss various options with them, like paper and different card quantities, you might even be able to take them your own paper to print on – and they probably won’t cost that much more.
I love that brides use my templates. They often tell me how great it is to be able to make last minute changes themselves. This is key as changes are inevitably required when planning a wedding! “
