Our Thailand Honeymoon Report
Luxury Rating: ****/*****
Holiday Type: City / Town and Beach
Budget: Approximately £4000 for two adults for 17 days
Agent: Kuoni
We jetted off on our Thailand Honeymoon the day after the wedding and arrived to a very warm (in more than one respect) welcome in Bangkok.
Our first stop on our Thailand Honeymoon was Bangkok. The highlights from Bangkok were tours of some remarkable temples (Grand Palace and the Emerald Buddha) a dinner cruise with Asprey River Cruises along the Chao Phraya, the river which runs through the centre of Bangkok sampling the local cuisine, picking up some tailored made suits/dresses; and a visit to Pa Pong night market, where my husband also belted out some karaoke classics! We stayed in the fabulous Banyan Tree where in the roof top Moon Bar we enjoyed views across Bangkok at sunset.

After a few days in Bangkok we flew north to Chiang Mai where the pace of life was a little slower. We stayed at the glamorous Shangri La. The service here was fantastic and we arrived back to a different treat in our room each day of our stay. Whilst quieter than Bangkok, there was still plenty to do in Chiang Mai and our favourite bits included: a trip to an elephant sanctuary where we were able to feed, clean and ride the elephants; a Thai cookery school (Basil Cookery School) where we learnt to prepare a selection of traditional Thai dishes such as pad thai and thai green curry; and the local Saturday market, where we got a real taste of local life.

We left Chiang Mai 3 days after arriving, wishing we could stay a bit longer, but looking forward reaching our final destination, Khao Lak, on the west coast of Thailand. We stayed at the Sarojin, which was truly magical (the sort of place most people dream of staying on their honeymoon). We spent most of our time by the pool, on the beach, or in the tub on our balcony. The food in the hotel and in the local restaurants was incredible and we certainly made the most of it! Other highlights included a day of sea kayaking around some of the islands, caves and lagoons in the Andaman Sea. We also explored the local area around Khao Lak, including a bike ride to a local waterfall and trips to the local towns.

We stayed in a beautiful place and spent more than one evening strolling down the beach at sunset. We didn’t want to leave!
A truly amazing Thailand honeymoon and one we’ll remember for the rest of our lives.

Enjoy xx
Went travelling in Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam in my gap year before uni! Loved Thailand and have always wanted to go back! Like the sound of doing Bangkok and slowly winding-down to end up in a boutique hotel on the west coast! Can’t wait for our honeymoon xx
Wow, I would have loved to have gone travelling. Good luck with your wedding plans.
